Wedding planning takes a long time. There are thousands of things to think about and only so much time to do it. But if you manage your time well, you should be able to get it all done in time for the big day. Or – close to it. Because you don’t really want to leave anything for last minute, do you? So as the last few weeks come to a close, here are the things you should do to make sure you are completely ready and that there won’t be any unplanned surprises.
You’ve got about a month to go, and most of the “big” things should be finalised. The arrangements for the venue, catering and floral décor should be done. If you want to add any extra details, like hiring a car, making sure your band or DJ have the right repertoire and deciding exactly how the cake is going to look, now is the time. You don’t want to wait any longer with these arrangements, because all of the service providers need to know the exact date ahead of time to be able to plan and offer you the best possible service. You also want to look into all the paperwork, marriage license and anything that might take some time that is outside of your control. If you have any people who haven’t RSVP’d, you should get in touch with them and see if they will be attending so that you have your final guest list all figured out.
Now the wedding is really getting close, and it’s time to tie up anything you have left, because the last week shouldn’t have any planning involved. This is the time to make sure your entire look is quite perfect. You should have your final dress fitting, and your bridesmaids should do the same. You need to do a test run of the hair and makeup to see if there is anything you’ll want to change for the big day. Make sure you wear the look for a day to see whether your hairstyle stays in place and if there are any details about your makeup that bug you. You can look for wedding shoes online where there is a huge selection and find something that will go with your look. Make sure you wear your shoes around the house whenever you can to break them in. You also want to make sure you have a selection of jewellery and try on several different combinations to find the perfect one. If your jewellery is old, you should get it professionally cleaned so it sparkles and shines on the big day.
This last week, what you should do is: absolutely nothing. Calm down. You’ve been running around getting everything done for months, and it is time for your very well deserved break. Firstly, you want to take your bridesmaids and treat yourselves to a spa day. Get massages, facials and spend a day completely relaxed and pampered. Throughout the week, make sure you moisturize your skin and take care of it. Any beauty interventions like waxing and facials should be done about three to five days before the wedding, so any redness on your skin has time to die down.
Most importantly, you want to spend some quality time with your partner. You’ve probably not had that much time together with all the preparations going on, so you will want to fix that. Try to get away from all distractions by going on a weekend getaway, a camping trip, or simply switching off your phones every evening and spending time together reminding each other why you want to spend the rest of your lives together. If you are planning a rehearsal dinner, this is the time, and if you have any doubts or questions about the organisation, you should talk about it at your final meeting with your wedding coordinator.
And then you will wake up, and you will realise that it’s the day of your wedding. All of your nerves will reach their peak, but it’s okay, because your squad will be there with you throughout, and every negative thought will go away as you start walking down the aisle. If you do all of your prep correctly, your wedding will go smoothly and the little kinks that are bound to happen won’t even be noticeable.

]]>Planning your wedding is a challenging task that requires paying attention to many details from the décor to the food. However, it can be made much simpler and easier if you break it down into a few steps and tackle it one section at a time. With that in mind, we’ve come up with this brief guide that will hopefully help you stay little bit more organised and in control.
First, you need to decide what kind of wedding you would like to have in terms of the theme, size, location, etc. Discuss your ideas with your spouse-to- be and try to come up with a plan that includes both your wishes and theirs. Having some basic ideas about what you want to have at your wedding will also make things much easier for your wedding planner (if you are hiring one).
Besides discussing your ideas, you also need to discuss your budget. You need to know how much you can spend so you can see what you need to focus on and what might need to be left out. Be realistic about your limits and possible savings since the last thing you want is dealing with unpleasant financial surprises. If your parents are interested in helping out, include them in the discussion and planning as well.
Don’t forget to send out the invitations in time so your guests can clear up their schedules. When it comes to the invitations themselves, it’s a good opportunity to give your guests a preview of what they can expect at your wedding by matching their design and colours with the overall theme of your wedding.
Your amazing bridesmaids and best man should have this covered, but if not, there are many fantastic party planners that can help you organise the best party ever. They would make sure everything is covered from food and drinks to the guest list, and they would also keep your budget in mind so there would be nothing for you to worry about.
When choosing your venue, don’t be afraid to fully explore all your options. It’s an important decision, so don’t settle for the first place you visit (unless you already know where you want to hold the event).
Either way, you need to keep in mind the size of your wedding, the type, and even the season, in order to make sure that there’s room for everything (and everybody). Also, consider hiring an experienced wedding stylist who can help you bring your vision to life by taking care of the interior and decorations.
When choosing the food, you should organise tasting sessions and check out more than one caterer (if you are having a marquee event and need to source your own caterer). There might also be some guests with allergies, which is why it would be wise to consider offering more than one type of food. As for the drinks, provide your guests with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options (for the kids and designated drivers).
After you’ve covered all the main things, all that’s left is the little details. Choose your wedding songs, write down your vows, pick the right favours, and perhaps find a way to thank all the people who have helped you plan your wedding – a small but meaningful gift would surely be appreciated. If there are any budget leftovers, you can simply invest a bit more in décor, services or the gifts.
Finally, it might sound impossible but do try to find some time to relax. It’s important to actually feel good on your wedding day, and it’s hard to do that if you’re constantly stressed out every day before it.
So, whether it’s reading a book that calms you down or going for a walk, try to find some time just for yourself.
Start planning your wedding on time and don’t hesitate to get some help if needed. After all, it is your big day and you want it to be perfect, so it’s important that you arrive at your wedding refreshed, excited, and as relaxed as you can be. By doing things one step at a time, you will surely manage to take care of everything and enjoy your dream wedding to the fullest.

]]>Each bride has a very specific look in mind when she starts to plan her wedding. Everything from the hair and makeup to the all-important gown is planned and prepared well in advance. But the outfit is so much more than the simple basics: the real life of a bridal look comes with all the accessories and details that are added to it, one of which is the bridal bouquet. But some brides can’t have a traditional floral bouquet, because they’re allergic to flowers, or they simply don’t want one! Well, this is how you can substitute the classic bouquet and make it your own:
Want your hands free throughout the ceremony? Modern brides have moved their fresh bouquets from their hands to their necks, with elegant fresh flower necklaces to complete their look. It is a unique look that allows you to have the beautiful pop of color and nature that a bouquet gives, without having to carry it with you. You can make it as big or as small as you want, and have it sit at any height on your dress. You can even make a floral belt if you think that would work best with your look.
Hand fans
Ideal for summer weddings, hand fans can be custom made to fit all kinds of themes and color schemes, being beautiful and practical at the same time. The bridesmaids, as well as the bride, can stay cool and express excitement with the beautiful hand fans, while still staying stylish. If you opt for flat fans, you can print pictures on them with the bride and groom, or of every individual bridesmaid’s special moment with the bride. You can go for anything from feather and paper to wood and lace for the fans, depending on what best fits your look.
Artificial flower bouquet
You can still have a beautiful flower arrangement for yourself and your bridesmaids, without using real flowers. And there are so many benefits to using artificial flowers: there is no need to worry about any allergies or bugs the flowers might attract, you can have the bouquet made well ahead of time and make sure it goes with your outfit, and whoever catches it when you throw it over your shoulder will be able to keep it – and maybe even use it at their own wedding! Furthermore, making a beautiful bouquet out of silk flowers means that you can use any flowers – in season or not – and have them look like they are in perfect bloom, all year round. And don’t worry, the days of fake-looking flowers are long gone. Nobody will know they’re artificial unless you tell them.
Book package
Let’s throw out the idea of flowers altogether and bring in something a lot more meaningful. Select some of your favorite books, and find an expert who can bind them in beautiful covers. Then tie it all up with satin or lace and carry it down the aisle. You can do the same for all of your bridesmaids, making them packages with their favorite books, and gift them instead of bouquets. Just make sure that the books aren’t too heavy, or you won’t be able to carry them for the entire day.
Memorabilia
How about you make something that is completely unique and special to you? Complete your look with a small basket filled with things important to you: childhood toys, pictures of loved ones and memories from the relationship. Or, tell your friends and family to bring a little memory token with them, and assemble your memorabilia basket on the spot. It will be a great memory that you can keep as a beautiful wedding souvenir.
In the time when every wedding seems to be over-the-top and innovative, it’s hard to come up with something that is really new and original. But changing a small detail like your bridal bouquet can make all the difference in the setting of your big day.

]]>Episode 2 of the new blog ha ha
I though to share this beautiful styled shoot which may give brides (& grooms) inspiration for their upcoming spring wedding with beautiful soft florals, flowing gowns and pastel colours. The scenery was iconic at Coriole winery overlooking the spectacular hills of McLaren Vale wine region in South Australia.
Here's a bit of a spill of the day from the wonderful photographers, Wilson & Lewis Photography;
“This shoot was designed to be a fun, light-hearted celebration of marriage equality. We chose to use pale pinks and blues for a light, airy feel and to complement the beautiful dresses. The upbeat photographs reflect the love, happiness and joy all couples, regardless of gender, deserve to celebrate!
All couples deserve the right to experience the joys and wonder of their wedding day, but more importantly to experience the adventure of marriage for the rest of their lives.”
